This week, the elves venture into completely new territory while covering their first made-for-T.V. Christmas movie! Surprisingly, it’s not a Hallmark Original, but an ABC Family (before it was Freeform) Original that debuted during it’s 25 Days of Christmas programming block back in 2001: Three Days. While Julia, Thom, and Anthony are all over the map in what they think about the overall quality of this movie starring Kristin Davis, Reed Diamond, and Tim Meadows, they’re in agreement about the fact that it’s quite depressing for a Holiday story, and have fun picking apart script flaws and directorial choices. In addition, the hosts discuss the brand new poster, trailer, and plot synopsis released for Illumination Entertainment’s upcoming 2018 film Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch.

It's Christmas In Killarney. (The Leprechaun's Christmas Gold)
Monday Mar 12, 2018
Monday Mar 12, 2018
In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, the elves dive back into the world of Rankin/Bass at the request of two listeners who suggested they review 1981’s The Leprechauns’ Christmas Gold. Though discussion of the made-for-television movie is short, and lacking in holiday cheer – Julia, Thom, and Anthony are all in agreement that it’s not a Christmas movie – it is nevertheless a fun discussion, as they bond over their shared confusion over Leprechaun lore and fright for Old Mag the Hag amongst many other topics; Thom even gets a moment to educate Julia and Anthony that Christmas in Killarney is actually a real song – and a good one at that! In addition, the hosts briefly discuss Illumination Entertainment’s upcoming film Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, Walt Disney’s upcoming movie The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, unanimously agree about which host would be which Christmas ghost in A Christmas Carol, and gush over their personal favorite Christmas tree ornaments.

The elves follow up last week’s horrendous take on Charles Dickens’ iconic A Christmas Carol with a film that details the author’s conception and writing of the holiday classic: 2017’s The Man Who Invented Christmas. (Based on the novel of the same name.) After last week’s downer of an episode, there’s a lot of genuine joy and good spirits amongst our hosts as they discuss this movie in their continuing quest to honor Christmas in their hearts and keep it all the year.

Dang Ghosts Are Screwin' Up My Life! (All American Christmas Carol)
Monday Feb 26, 2018
Monday Feb 26, 2018
There’s a lot of false positivity in this episode as the elves attempt to summon every bit of Christmas cheer they have just to make it through discussing this awful reimagining of Charles Dickens’ classic tale. Truly a new low (the rating is abysmal), they find much to dislike about this movie (read: everything). They manage to end on a high, however, when discussing their most memorable Christmas gift-opening experiences from childhood, and are all in agreement about how excited they are to talk about next week’s movie. In the meantime, enjoy our blissfully short conversation about 2013’s All American Christmas Carol – we’re truly sorry for making you go out of your way to watch it.

Follow That Star! (The Star [2017])
Monday Feb 19, 2018
Monday Feb 19, 2018
Tackling our first religious-themed movie, strong opinions and high expectations prove to be a heavy lift for this 2017 animated nativity story. Can the all-star voice cast push this movie into the upper rankings of our Christmas Canon list? Will angry Julia make an appearance? Stay tuned for a religious good time with the elves in this week’s episode!

It’s hard to believe, but Tis the Podcast is now over six months old! Happy half-birthday to us.
To celebrate this milestone, the elves dive into the 2000 film The Family Man starring Nicholas Cage and Tea Leoni. Anthony has been taunting Thom, who really likes this movie, for weeks now. How will this play out on the episode? Do we get to see an angry Anthony or will everyone hug it out and come to a consensus?

This week, the elves discuss “the final chapter in the greatest Santa story ever told” – The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause. Julia, Thom, and Anthony are unified in their overall opinions regarding this Disney threequel, as they answer two important questions: 1. Is this movie as good as its predecessors, or is it a film full of missed opportunities? And if it is the latter… 2. Is it as bad as some of the worst that we’ve covered, like One Magic Christmas and Santa’s Slay?
Also discussed in this episode are the hosts’ favorite film and television versions of the North Pole!

It's...The Mrs. Clause (The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause)
Monday Jan 22, 2018
Monday Jan 22, 2018
This week, the elves are excited to discuss their first direct sequel to a film they’ve already covered: Disney’s 2002 film, The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause. A lot has changed in-story, and behind-the-scenes out-of-story, in the eight years since Tim Allen’s Scott Calvin first donned the red suit and became Santa Claus in 1994, and Julia, Thom, and Anthony delve into all of it in great detail. Does the film serve as a worthy follow-up to the Christmas classic that still rests comfortably at number 2 on their Christmas canon list, or is it a needless sequel? One things for certain, it’s a movie that elicited a lot of opinions from our listeners when they found out we were covering it, and the hosts express their excitement that their social media interactions are picking up again! Tune in to this episode to find out what everyone thinks of Scott Calvin’s continuing journey as Santa Claus as he sets out to find his Mrs. Claus!

Happy Birthday, Jesus. Sorry Your Party's So Lame. (The Office - U.S.)

“Back to Work” month continues this week with a discussion about all seven Christmas episodes of the American version of “The Office”! The elves are super excited to discuss the beloved comedy, which they all love, and laugh their way through the entire episode, which has an abundance of “That’s What She Said” jokes, a lot of quotes, and a few interesting tidbits about NBC’s iconic comedy outside of their holiday shows.
The elves talked for hours while recording this show, and though they managed to cut it down to a manageable 1:18:02 in length, the full, unedited episode – which runs 2:09:38 (a full 51 minutes longer!) – is even better. It includes a lot more discussion about “The Office” as a whole, more behind the scenes information, many more quotes, and, typical Tis the Podcast banter amongst our cohosts, including lots of trolling one another. Because the elves love the unedited version so much – in addition to their fans, who’ve shown a lot of excited interest in this episode – we’ve put the full, two plus hour show up on Patreon for you to download for just $1.00 if you’re interested. Trust us when we say, it’s worth it! (patreon.com/tisthepodcast)
